WHITE SAUCE FOR WAFFLES After years and years of cooking white sauce and experiencing great difficulty

(and many failures) and after consulting aunts and my sister and receiving various hints at how to succeed, I finally hit the success jackpot this summer (August 2011) when Meredith helped me make it to serve at the wedding fete (Neal and Merediths). She pointed out the error of my cooking ways and we cooked up a sauce that received rave reviews. 4 cups whole milk 1 cups white sugar 3 tblsp corn starch 3 tblsp flour 2/3 cup milk 1 tblsp vanilla 1 tblsp butter tsp salt 1. Make a slurry with cup sugar, cornstarch, flour, salt and 2/3 cup milk. 2. Heat 4 cups whole milk to almost a boil, BUT DO NOT BOIL. 3. Add 1 cup sugar to milk and dissolve. 4. Add slurry while stirring. Then add butter. 5. Thicken to taste. 6. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Let stand to cool while mixture thickens.
