Categorising our Target Audience

We have used the audience profile section of the Pearl and Dean Website in order to investigate a different way of categorising the ideal audience for our opening sequence. The website shows how, when advertising films, they break audiences down by age, class and gender.

We have decided to do the same; and using the website as an aid we have established that our audience will most likely be: -Social Class-70% ABC1 and 30% C2DE -Gender-90% female and 10% male -Age-100% 14-24 (after using the website we have decided to widen our audience range from 14-17 to 14-24 in order to have a greater number of audience members within our target audience.

Social Class-how it is categorised: Social Grade A B C1 Social Status Upper Middle Class Middle Class Lower Middle Class Occupation Higher managerial, administrative or professional Intermediate managerial, administrative or professional Supervisory or clerical, junior managerial, administrative or professional Skilled manual workers Semi and unskilled manual workers State pensioners or widows (no other earner), casual or lowest grade workers
