NAME OF ACTIVITY: Spring Flower Colors Age Group: Pre-school

Originating Idea: Seasons / Spring

Materials Needed: Construction paper sheets, spring colored cut-up pieces of construction paper and tissue paper for leaves and flowers, glue, markers.

Curriculum Content: Arts and Sciences; Holding more than one attribute in mind at a time.

Beginning: During large group, teacher asks children if there are leaves on the trees, what color the grass is, if there are any flowers growing yet. Middle: Children use art materials to make their spring colored flowers, by gluing cut up flowers and leaves onto the construction paper.

Extensions (Modifiers): Teacher models by cutting up the leaves and flowers and gluing them onto the construction paper. Teacher asks open ended questions about the colors of the flowers and leaves on the trees. End: Discuss with children seasons.

Follow-up Ideas: Introduce the summer season.
