Boiled eggs
Boiled eggs are fine to eat but great to experiment with! Thats why Sr.Noor told us to do a wonderful
experiment at home. First we boiled an egg then we cracked the shell and the outside looks like
continents when you crack it. Isnt an egg like the earth the outside is like the crust of the earth was
we are living? Yes, indeed it is and the egg white is like a mantle squishy but not solid rock.

Sand +Construction Paper Experiment
First, we took 2 construction papers and put them in a tray then we put one paper over and one under.
After that, we put sand on the edges of the papers. Then we pushed the paper on the bottom and, Voila!
the sand was building a mountain range. This taught us that if plates move together they form
mountain ranges. Sarah

Salt paintings!
In art we made pictures of a table or any other flat surface and put a vase and a colored background
on it. After the backgrounds were done we sprinkled salt on them before they dried to give the salt
effect. Next we will stamp on flowers and so far, they look great!

Oreos!

We did an experiment with Oreos. We took the top cookie slowly of (by twisting!)Then we snapped it
into half. After that we moved the halves to show the plates moving. After that we ate the cookie and
another one Sr. Noor gave us!

SNICKERS!
In class we did a yummy experiment with Snickers. We showed different tectonic movements with
the snicker. The snicker bar was basically acting as a plate on earths crust. We first did tension.
Second we did compression, most of the bars buckled. Last we did shearing. My bar got totally
squished.

Robo Trekkers
In class we had the Al-Hamra team the Robo Trekkers come and teach us about tsunamis. They
talked about how animals could tell if a tsunami is coming. The team also talked about the Aceh
tsunami in 2004. In their presentation they showed us a few pictures of a small machine that could
fit two people and save them in tsunamis. It could keep a person alive for about twenty four hours. It
was a very interesting presentation.

Graham Cracker Homework
For science H.W, Sr. Noor gave us each a graham cracker to experiment on. We had a choice of doing
it with either jam , jelly, cream cheese, or water. With the jam, jelly, or cream cheese, we had to spread
it on a plate and break the cracker in half. We had to see what kind of landform it would make when
we pushed it together.

Arabic Class Field Trip
For Arabic class, we went to Zaytoon Restaurant in Clinton. We were told to order in Arabic so we
had to translate our order and the whole menu in Arabic, which was graded as a test grade. It was very
hard. When we went to the restaurant we told waiter what we wanted in Arabic .
