Summary of School-based Experience

I have carried out my second school based experience from 19
th
August until
23
rd
August at SJK( C ) Khoon Aik, Perlis. To fulfill the task, I need to do observation
and some research in the school that I have selected. Besides, I have observed
Physical Education (PE) lessons, collect remedial and reinforcement worksheets,
interview the school community especially the PE teachers and do reflections on the
following aspects for my major subject, Physical Education.
Mrs Leong Hui Xuan, the head of PE subject as our mentor during our school-
based experience. She has taught PE for 15 years and she coaches students in
basketball and netball teams for competitions. I observed the PE classes and I learn
to lead and face the different situations while students carry out physical activities
because there are students who are very active and they may get hurt if any
accident happens. Mrs Leong shared her experiences in teaching PE for 15 years
and she shared many creative teaching with me too. To make the lesson more
interesting, she leads the students in aerobic dance and she teaches students to
play traditional games.
In addition, I also entered and observed Bahasa Malaysia lesson that taught
by En Azam. Through the observation, I have gain a lot of knowledge on handling
class and the ways of teaching that can help students in understanding the topics.
En Azam told me that it is not easy to teach. Teacher must prepare the subjects well
and also understand the students thinking. Interaction and understanding are
important to teach the students well.
In a nutshell, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge during the
SBE program. I hope I can get more information for the next SBE. By learning and
observing teachers teaching, I sincerely hope that I can be a good and responsible
teacher in the future.
