Kindergarten Newsletter

September 2nd, 2014

Dear Parents,
Welcome to the month of September! In Reading, we will start the unit I am Special. Students will
discover that they are like others in some ways and different in other ways. They will share the joy of things
they can do and excitement of learning new things. We will also be working on the letters K, L, M, and N. The
sight words for this week: my and a.
In Math, we are working on the numbers 0 to 10. We are learning how to write them, recognize them,
count and know what number comes next. We are reviewing shapes too.
In Science, We will be finishing up our first unit. The first unit introduces what science is, who
scientists are, how to be safe, how to collect and share data and how to observe. We will take a test on Friday
on this unit.
Our character word for the month of September is Self Control, which means taking charge of
yourself and your behavior as well as making good choices and being accountable for you decisions.
I enjoy each and every one of my students! They are all doing a great job! I will be sending out gold
Folders every day as well as behavior charts. So please look at these when your child brings them home. If you
have time please try to read to your child each and every night, and make sure to color in your apple. Thanks
for all the snacks you all have brought in. We are good for a few weeks now. Thank again and Have a great
