Name Score:
ECE - 3102 August 06, 2014

I. OBJECTIVES
To determine the variable DC output, and
To be familiar with the power supply simulation.

II. PROCEDURES
1.) Research for a power supply circuit that makes a variable dc voltage
output.
2.) Open the software to be used.
3.) Search and drag the components needed from the gallery to the
working space to create the circuit.
4.) Set or adjust the value of each component.
5.) Connect the components.
6.) Plot the corresponding graph.
7.) Compare your graph from the corresponding graph of your researched
circuit.

III. DATA AND GRAPHS
a) Power supply circuit that makes a variable dc voltage output
(RESEARCHED).

b.) Circuit diagram made in the software based on (a).

IV. RESULTS
When the sinusoidal input voltage passes through the bridge rectifier, the
output will be:

After it made the rectifier form, it passes through the capacitor and the
capacitor voltage will be:

Then the capacitor voltage passes through the zener diode which will filter
and clamped the voltage upward to a variable dc voltage output like the
graph shown below.

V. CONCLUSION
The circuit diagram is composed of different components but since the
components before the bridge rectifier are passive components it does not
affect the graph of the input voltage. By passing the bridge rectifier which
makes use of four diodes in a bridge arrangement, we achieved a full-
wave rectification. The capacitor serves as the RC filter. Lastly, the zener
diode filters the output of the RC filter and clamps it upward. In
summarization, variable dc output can be obtained from an ac voltage
supply by passing through a rectifier, a capacitor, and a filtering diode
respectively.
