CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS
Praxis Inquiry Journal:

Year 11 Business Management - Steve

Business management was unlike any
class I have observed before
teachers had warmed me it was a
different cohort of students but I found
the class really fun. The class was
preparing for a lunchtime fund raising
competition against the other business
management classes.

Steve obviously has a great rapport
with the students and the respect goes
both ways. He is a lot more lenient with
the students and encourages them to
be themselves. The class has a lot
more freedom to direct their learning
and what they put into the class is
what they get out.

Year 12 Media Helen

Revision class: how to structure SAC
questions. Handouts were given with
structure of answers and ideal example
answers.

- Students we on to complete
individual work and SAC revision.
Practice SAC put on school
intranet and printed out in class.

Really enjoyed Helens class and
teaching style, she has a natural energy
that engages the students and makes
them feel safe.

Year 12 H&HD Bianca

Bianca was coming in for the first time
as their health teacher (not new to the
school previous teacher is on leave)
Introduced herself to the class with her
contact details, outlined her open door
policy and highlighted her
expectations for the class. Continued
with a fun activity to break the ice with
the class but still remain on topic and
productive with the content.

Bianca has a real mum energy about
her. She has a wonderful way of
making the class and students feel
comfortable while still denoting
respect.

Year 12 Psychology Lauren

Begins class with an activity that allows
teacher to set up while students are still
being productive
(eg: word jumble on the board)

Works through note booklet,
referencing between that, a
PowerPoint and the textbook.
Highlighting images and visuals.
