Dear Parents,
Please make sure to look in InfoDirect for ideas of at-home activities that can be used to reinforce new concepts that
are discussed! Also please review letters, numbers, and Bible verses with them each week. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to ask!!
Star Students:

*We will start over with star students in November, so please watch for your childs name again!
Star Student Reminders: Please bring pictures and a few items that your child likes that he or she can show his or her friends.
On Friday, please have your child bring a small treat for each of the 12 students in the class. There are 6 girls and 6 boys.

Letters: Kk: K says k in kite; K says k, k, k

Vv: V says v in violin; V says v, v, v.

Phonetic Blends: (all short vowel sounds) K, V


Sight Words: from
Beginning Reading: We will introduce double consonants such as ck and ll. We will also be talking more about sentence
structure (begins with capital letter, ends with period).
**There will be a written evaluation on TUESDAY and an oral evaluation on FRIDAY.
Handwriting: Kk and Vv and blends for both
Bible:
Lessons: Review Noah, The Tower of Babel, and Abraham; Teach Isaac and Ishmael and Offering of Isaac
Memory Verse: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
me. -John 14:6"
Oral Test: Friday, October 24, 2014 (recite both verse and reference)
Bible Treasure: The Lords Prayer Matthew 6:9-13 (does not have to be memorized at this point)
Math:
Counting: 0-59
Concepts: 21-29 (twenties family), 30-39 (thirties family), clock and oclock times (12 oclock, 2 oclock, etc.),
counting money to purchase items
Writing: 10

1) If you are able, please remember to send money for the Fall Festival activities, and for the Queen/Princess
competition. The students are really hoping to win one day next week! Also, please do not forget to return the
information in the Fall Festival packet that was sent home last week.

2) Please fill out the form regarding whether or not you will be picking up your children to take them to the Fall Festival
games. I need to know how many student helpers we will need for our classroom. Also, please make sure to turn in all
money and forms that were in the Fall Festival Packet!!
3) Coats and Jackets: Please make sure to refer to the dress code in the handbook regarding coats and jackets. There
have been a couple jackets worn that do not meet the dress code standards.
