Your magazine which musical sub-genre?

The sub-genre of the magazine I am going to produce is going to be alternative rock. A

magazine which has a connection to this sub-genre is Alternative Press. This magazine
focuses on giving underground music the platform that it typically doesnt get and specialises in pop-punk and alternative rock.

Alternative Press was founded in 1985 by Mike Shea, and is an American music magazine
as it is based Cleveland, Ohio. The magazine is published by the company Alternative
Press Magazine Inc, which is a private and its only purpose is to publish Alternative Magazine. This publisher is associated with a target audience of young adults, predominantly
male, of a middle class as the price of the magazine is 3.85 which could be expensive for
a teenager of a lower class.
This publisher is not suitable for publishing my final music magazine as although it is experienced in publishing a successful rock magazine, Alternative Press is the only magazine
the company publishes which means they do not have experience with other target audiences which I may want to aim my magazine at. Also, this publishing company only publish in America which isnt suitable for my magazine as I will need it published in the UK
before other parts of the world. Finally, Alternative Press Magazine Inc wouldnt be suitable to publish my music magazine as it is unlikely that they wouldnt publish a second
magazine of a similar sub-genre and target audience, as this would take sales away from
their main magazine, Alternative Press.
