Ms. Scott's class had a busy week of learning and preparing for the upcoming Christmas concert. They practiced their concert song with the music teachers and sent home lyrics. In language arts, students learned about nouns and verbs, and in math they practiced addition and skip counting by 3s. On Thursday, a speaker discussed urban deer safety. The following week they will continue their social studies lessons and visit a retirement home on Friday.

Forms that went home this week: Christmas Card order forms Deer Safety info sheet (white) We Are Santas Elves song (green) On Monday, we practiced our Christmas Concert song with Mrs. Haggard and Miss Trish on the piano. We have practiced a few times in class, but I have also sent home a copy of the lyrics and posted the lyrics to our class blog msscottsblog.edublogs.org. In Language Arts this week we learned about nouns and verbs. Ask your child if they can tell you the difference between a noun and a verb or a common noun and a proper noun In Math we continued practicing adding numbers to 8 and 9. We also started learning to skip count by 3s. A bit of a tricky one! We coloured in a one hundreds chart with all the multiples of 3. Ask your child what pattern they noticed on the sheet. On Thursday, Patty (aka Batty Patty) came in to talk to us about Urban Deer in Kimberley and how we can avoid deer encounters. A copy of the pamphlet went home, but it looks like a few fell out of planners. If you would like a copy, please contact me and I will send another home with your child. Mrs. Keiver joined us on Friday. She will be coming in every day to do various stories and activities that are tied in with our Social Studies curriculum.
Upcoming Week: November 24-28
Friday will be our next visit to Garden View Village from 10 am to 11:30 am. Volunteers with current criminal record checks are always welcome!
