Week in Review: May 2 - 6

No news on the butterflies this week other than they are slowly getting bigger. We are going to go over
Monday morning to check them out again. In the meantime, we did a bug hunt with Mrs. Pakenhams class
and drew all the bugs we could find at the bottom of the Lois Creek trails. Some kids were even able to
start adding labels to their pictures!
This weeks poem was It Is Spring! Ask your child to sing it to you!
Selkirk Choir and Jazz Choir came to sing to us on Music Monday. They sang 4 short songs. Its great for
the younger kids to see what they can look forward to as they move to different schools. I led Mrs.
Taggarts class in a song with boom whackers and mallets. Mrs. Kostiuk led the grade 3s in various songs
on the recorder.
Kyras mom brought their new puppy to show the class at the end of the day Monday. Each child had the
opportunity to hold the puppy and everyone was very gentle.
This Tuesday we went down to McKim for another cultural performance called Hamelin with the Axis
Theatre Group. There were 5 actors who played many different characters. Ask your child how many of
the characters they can remember and if they can retell the story to you.
Ms. Wendy came with Brady again this week and started showing us different features of Brady. The
star represents when and where. The purple circles represent an event in the story. Ms. Wendy gave
each student a sequencing booklet and we worked through the first few pages together and we will try
some more of it next week.
Mrs. Keiver is teaching us a new song about growing plants. Its so catchy and we think we will use this as
our song at the last recognition assembly! See if your child can remember the tune. If not, we will be
practicing each week with Mrs. Keiver
We made our Mothers Day gifts this week! I included the recipe with the gift so you know what is in it!
I hope you enjoy it!

Reminders:
*Were looking for soup cans! Please send in clean soup or tomato cans for us to decorate!
*Please dress your child for the weather. We are going outside every day to meet the 30x30 challenge.
