CLASS NEWS
Cold weather and snow has arrived. Your child needs snow pants,
gloves, hat and boots daily. They also need a pair of shoes to wear
inside the classroom.

MATH

READING & WRITING

In math we have started unit 5, Place

Value to 100. We have been comparing
numbers, learning about greater than
and less than and what each symbol
means. We have been counting to 100,
counting 10 more or 10 less and
working with even and odd numbers.
This week we are reviewing our +2
facts. This is just like +1, so it has been
pretty simple.

In reading groups we have started our

schools reading program called
Treasures. This week we focused on short
a and i and our vocabulary words
were carefully, tomorrow, groan,
whisper, different and excited.
In writing, we started a new writing
project all about winter stories. We are
using the words first, next and last to tell
a story. We started by drawing three
pictures, then adding one sentence for
each picture and finally we added details
to each sentence to make our stories
more interesting. We will continue
working on these next week as well.

Science & Social Studies

We have begun our study of the continents and
oceans. We have watched several you tube
videos with songs about the continents. We
made a book and created our own world map.
We also practiced locating continents using
some online games.
