Human Body Tissue

A tissue is a group of almost the
same cells with a common
designed to do a specific action.
There are 4 main tissue types:
-Epithelial Tissue
-Connective Tissue
-Muscle Tissue
Nervous Tissue

Epithelial Tissue
Tightly packed cells that line
organs & body cavities
Lines internal and external
surfaces
Functions of Epithelial Tissue:
-Cleaning
-Protection
-Diffusion
-Sensory

Connective Tissue
Animal tissue that functions
mainly to find and support other
tissues
Examples of Connective Tissues:
-Bones
-Blood
-Cartilage
-Tendons

Muscle Tissue
Relax and contract to cause
movement
3 major types of muscle
tissue:
-Cardiac Muscle
-Skeleton Muscle
-Smooth Muscle

Nervous Tissue
-Composed of special cells
called neurons that send &
receive electrical signals in
the body
-Makes up the brain spinal
