A heart-felt mission

Peddling, pushing and collecting pledges were what these

kids were out doing on a sprinkling, but warm, Sunday
afternoon. A couple of them will be Jumping Rope for Heart
and are raising money for the American Heart Association.

From left to right are Deven Nesbitt, Techea Wiseman, Calix

Greenough, Jayden Greenough, Torissa Faller and Damien
Greenough. It was good to see them enjoying the great
outdoors together for a great cause.

Our roving reporters Nate

Sillerud and Mark English
are enjoying a very
traditional St. Patricks
Day celebration and more
in Dublin,
Ireland this
week. At left is Nate in
front of the hotel they are
staying in. Must suck to be
Nate and Mark!

Senator Brenden reporting

Transmittal (halftime) has come and gone as of

March 16th, the 54th day of the session. The House bills
are coming over in droves to the Senate.

The BIG discussions will be the Medicaid expansion
or various plans and the Budget. The House is taking
up the budget (HB2) this week. The budget will be the
last act of the Legislature before we sine die (adjourn).
I am drafting a major infrastructure bill and we will
be hearing this in the next upcoming days. It still is
in rough draft and we are meeting with democrats
and republicans to make this a compromise bill that
hopefully the Governor will sign.

The Governor has on his desk my SB88 that affects
conservation districts in their bidding process. This
bill just allows them the same monetary ($80,000.00)
amounts as cities and counties when it come to the
bidding process. Today the House will be voting on
my SB89 that makes supreme court justices and district
court judges report their campaign donations, etc., the
same way we legislators do to political practices.
Last week my senate bills, (247 prohibit sage
grouse hunting), (248 require identification for
legislative comment), (283 revise laws related to
constituent accounts for legislators), (284 approval for
county commissioners for bison translocation in their
county), and (376 revise laws regarding state agency
use of recovered indirect costs:slush funds) were heard.
More on this later as they wend through the House.
It is always good to see young folks here in Helena
and last week the Opheim high school students and
their advisors Becky Dowden and Shane Bartschi were
at the Capitol. All for now.

~ Sen. John C. Brenden

ORourke, the barber, was hearing complaints
from his present trimmee about the price of barbers
services. I tell you, ORourke, these New York barbers
gotta stranglehold on the citizens. I was in London just
last week, and you charge me half again what they charge
there.
That may be true, Sir, said the Irishman, but
think of the airfare.

One night, Mrs McMillen answers the door to

see her husbands best friend, Paddy, standing on the
doorstep.
Hello Paddy, but where is my husband? He went
with you to the beer factory!
Paddy shook his head. Ah, Mrs McMillen, there
was a terrible accident at the beer factory, your husband
fell into a vat of Guinness stout and drowned.

Mrs. McMillen starts crying. Oh dont tell me that,
did he at least go quickly?
Paddy shakes his head. Not really he got out
three times to pee!

March Madness: The Montana

Mints Pizza Bracket is Here...

Already filled out your March Madness brackets?

No you havent...at least not until you fill out your 2015
Montana Pizza Championship Bracket.
Seriously, you have got to check out this March
Madness-style Montana pizza bracket by the crew at
The Montana Mint. You can already vote for who you
want to send to the Sweet 16.
My only complaint? I wanna know who the heck
was on the selection committee- Eugenes Pizza in
Glasgow very clearly should have been a #1 seed in
the Pepperoni Division. At least they got it right with
Mooses Saloon in Kalispell being a top seed in the Extra
Cheese Division though.

No gifts please. Your presence is present enough
