ABBREVIATIONS/DEFINITIONS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Area in charge E&I checks layout, project and typical installation

drawings for the activity.

Area supervisor E&I accomplishes the activities in accordance

with drawings. All relevant tests will be performed and results
will be filled on FRMs (refer to related documents).

The concerned quality inspector checks that the relevant work

is being carried out in conformance with project specifications,
PQPand QIP along with the best engineering practices. In case of
non-conformance at any stage, it will be controlled by corrective
action request. If an inspection plan is given by customer, the
sequence of inspections will be followed accordingly.

PROCEDURE:
Following checks shall be performed for the completion of activities, in
accordance with the relevant project specifications and reference
documents.

FIELD INSTRUMENTATION
INSTALLATION

Mounting of instruments shall be in accordance with location

and detail drawings along with hook up details.

Instrument or equipment to be installed shall be inspected to

check that its data meets with the specification. The instrument
shall then be examined for calibration and installed at its
intended location on brackets, a sub-panel, mounting post or
pedestal ensuring that it is leveled and firmly secured.

The instruments which require re-calibration, as specified by

customer, shall then be bench tested / calibrated prior to
installation.

Instruments and associated equipment shall be supported in

accordance with methods shown on typical drawings.
Instrument location generally should not obstruct equipment
access or walkways. A check shall be implemented to ensure
that access to hand valves and equipment is not impaired. Repositioning of control valve hand wheels or positioners may be
carried out, with approval of the customer.

All instruments and instrument scales shall be installed in a

vertical orientation (unless otherwise specified). It is ensured
that all indicating instruments shall be readable from floor level
or permanent ladders or platforms.

All isolation, vent and drain valves shall be operateable from

permanent platform or ladders. Where capillary systems are
used, they shall be continuously supported and protected and
any excess length neatly coiled. The installation shall not
introduce any standing errors.

Protective enclosures shall be provided for instruments as

specified and shall be installed in locations where maximum
access is provided for maintenance purposes.

Care shall be taken that the forces developed by the expansion

of piping or vessels shall not damage instruments or impulse
piping.

Control valves shall be located in accordance with piping detail

drawings and, in general, shall be accessible from floor level or
permanent platforms. Clearance shall be allowed above the
control valve to allow for servicing of the actuator and below for
servicing the valve internals where applicable. Suitable
clearances shall also be allowed to give access to manual hand
wheels and valve positioners.

Care shall be taken in locating tapping points to keep the

impulse lines as short as possible. Allowance shall also be made
for withdrawal as necessary.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENTS:

LN key set.

Spanners and wrenches - Right type and size shall be used.

Extension on spanners and wrenches shall not be used unless
the wrenches are designed for such use. A pipe wrench shall not
be used as a hammer. A wrench (except slugging wrenches) shall
not be hammered to tighten a bolt.

Pliers shall not be used as wrenches. It will be ensured that scrap

does not fly off and cause injury when cutting metal with pliers.
Only long handled pliers shall be used to cut wire under tension.
Pliers with insulated handles shall be used for electrical work.

Hacksaws - Correct type of blade shall be selected to suit the

material to be cut. The blade should be set in a hacksaw frame
so that the teeth are pointing in the forward direction and
sufficient tension shall be applied to ensure the blade is
maintained rigid.

Power tools - All portable power tools shall be stored in clean dry
conditions. Power tools shall not be left lying around the job site
where they may be damaged. Rotating tools shall be switched
off and held until rotation has completely stopped before they
are set down. Tools shall be disconnected before changing bits,
blades, cutters, or wheels. All portable power tools shall be
equipped with properly functioning "deadman switches".

Grinding Machine - Care shall always be taken to ensure that the

grinding wheel is free from defect before mounting. The proper
size and type of wheel shall be fitted to the tool so that the
maximum permissible periphery speed of the wheel does not
exceed the maximum speed displayed on the machine. No
grinding machine shall be used unless the maximum speed is
clearly marked on the case. All wheels shall be fitted with
adequate guards.

8. HSE INSTRUCTIONS:
During work, the following procedures should be adopted to ensure safe
working.

Procedure for crainage shall be followed for shifting of control

valves etc that has been submitted in our HSE manual.

Fire extinguishers should be available near the vicinity of hot

work.

The following personal protection wears shall be used, they are:

FIELD INSTRUMENTATION
INSTALLATION
Safety helmets
Safety goggles.
Safety shoes.
Cotton gloves.

The supervisors shall deliver toolbox talk daily to the workers.

8.

All efforts will be made to keep the job site neat clean and tidy by
removing the scrap on daily basis.
