Assignment 6

Pugh Chart

Pugh method is a decision making model that used to choose between a list of
alternatives. The most important criteria in the decision are chosen, and the alternatives
are compared using these criteria. This method is used when there are many
alternatives, none of which are quite suitable. The Pugh matrix can be used to choose
the best aspects of the various concepts to produce a hybrid, which hopefully will be
better than the alternatives used initially.
For the PoWaR Bag product, there have been three designs of bag that are needed to be
considered for the final design product.
1. Design A

Shape: square

Size: 2m x 2m x 2m

Consists of buoy under the bag so that it can float on water

Installed by light and strong frame

Attachable rope that can be used to drag or hold the bag

The bag will be sealed with waterproof material to prevent water from
seep in

2. Design B

Shape: prism

Surface area of the prism is big

String is attached at each corner of the base

It can store heavy products due to the surface area of the bag

Buoy is attached to the bag

Frame must be manually installed

3. Design C

Shape : Circular
No buoy that attach to the bag
Install with rod metal from aluminium alloy

Based on the specifications of all the three designs, the pugh chart has been
constructed as below:

Lightweight
