lessons

Acknowledged this teachers who contributed snacks and drinks this month
Opera Meg Anderson, Chairwoman and Sheri Summerell.
1. Beauty and the Beast by Giannini in English, 1 act. Shared a handout with
ideas to consider when planning opera unit. Meg created a film trailer she put
on YouTube for this opera!
2. Materials will be in Sharepoint. Thanks to the opera committee for their
contributions!
3. Sheri shared how to use games and centers for opera prep. She encouraged use
of YouTube timer for 10 minutes, centers are loud, make directions sheets for
each center . More ideas, Sheri is on Pinterest!
4. 4 centers shared: 1. magnetic manipulative of definitions, 2. connect 4 game
board with question for teams, 3. Fiddlesticks with popsicle sticks, 4. Cootie
Catchers for singers in opera, let students make them.
5. Free digital games: Big Wheel and Sunken Treasure, play with 2 teams, use tone
bells to ring in answer,
Nathan Street updates SAI, ASW, new symphony venue
SAI info out to teachers at end of Jan. All classes in one place this year
possibly Greensboro College
Symphony will be Cirque de la Symphony - please send total students,
chaperones and disabled students with special accomodations for this event
ASW delays are from NCDPI; practice verification concerns; no verification of
payment for the 3 different evaluators needed for each lesson reviewed;
ASW Submissions from Home Base 4 examples of lessons and how they
were evaluated: 1.CR.1., 3.ML.1.1, 5.ML.3.3, 5ML.3.3. Encouraged NOT to use
objectives that include audience behavior as an ASW lesson objective.
