Comments:
1. For Activity 1, campers do not have to know all of sounds. You just let them freely
describe inventions, their features and functions.
2. For Activity 2, many campers may not understand the real meaning of technology.
Therefore, you should ensure that they understand it before they leave your base.

CW1
Name... Group........
Instructions: In groups of four or five, read the passage What is Technology?. You
have 10 minutes to do the instructions on the next page.

What is technology?
How would you answer the question, What is
technology? Do you know how to define this concept? It
is not an easy thing to do. Many people use the term
technology in many different ways. One way you can
learn to understand this concept is by comparing it with a
cake. Both a cake and technology are made up of separate
ingredients. Each ingredient has its own identity, but
when mixed together they form something else.
What are the ingredients needed to make a cake?
You need flour, butter, eggs, sugar, and milk. Each of
these ingredients has its own identity. But when they are
mixed together in the right amounts and baked, they
become a cake. What are the ingredients needed to make
technology? You need tools, resources, processes, and
people. Each of these ingredients also has its own
identity. But when taken together to solve problems, they
become technology.
Technology is when people use tools, resources, and
processes to solve problems. What do you think of this
definition? Did you agree with us?
