making sure we are
using correct
capitalization and
punctuation in our
writing.

This month we will be

working on the ch/sh,
ow/ou word families
and second grade
sight words. Your
child should have
word work
homework every day.
Be sure to practice
your child's words
with him/her!

Math

Social Studies

This month in math

we will be working on
place value. We will
be discussing the
ones, tens, and
hundreds places in
numbers and what
those places mean.
We will also be
practicing number
patterns.

This month in social

studies we will be
discussing good
citizenship traits and
what it means to be a
good citizen. We will
also learn how to
read a grid map and
use a compass rose
when reading a map.

A Letter from the Editor

Welcome back to school! We have hit the ground running and are
doing some really fun and exciting things in our classrooms!
Curriculum Night will be TUESDAY AUGUST 18th! You will have an
opportunity to spend "a day in the life" of your second grader by
participating in many of the activities your child does every day. We
look forward to seeing both you and your child Tuesday night!
