Dear Fourth Grade Families,

Welcome to Mrs. Landinos and Mrs. McHughs shared 4th grade classroom, otherwise known as
Hughdino. We are looking forward to experiencing a wonderful learning adventure with your 4 th
Grade Husky!
Here is a little information about how a day in our shared classroom looks:
Mrs. Landino will be teaching the following subjects every morning: Math, Social Studies
and Technology. In the afternoon, Mrs. McHugh will teach English Language Arts (ELA)
which includes: reading, writing, word study and spelling. We will be switching with Mrs.
Collins for Science.
Here is a quick snapshot of us:
Mrs. Emily Landino
I am so excited to be your childs fourth grade teacher. I have had the pleasure of being at Ardmore
since 2002 teaching second, third and fourth grades. I enjoy being part of this community and
getting to know the wonderful families at Ardmore.
I am very excited for this opportunity to job share with my good friend Mrs. McHugh. I truly believe
that your child is getting the best of both of us. I am thrilled to be teaching Math again this year and
am looking to adding more manipulatives and technology into my instruction. Also, this year we will
be incorporating a Facebook page for our class.
In addition to being a teacher, I am also a wife and mother of three children. My oldest Carson is a
baseball loving fourth grader in the Utica Community Schools. Caitlin is a 7 year old social butterfly
in second grade. Our little man, Carter is 2 years old and is very busy. I am a fitness fanatic and
enjoy doing anything active. I am running in my first marathon, the Detroit Free Press Marathon on
October 18th raising money for the Hope Water Project. I like to think of myself as a role model for
the students with a healthy lifestyle and a positive attitude.
Mrs. Julie McHugh
I have been teaching for a total of 12 years. Ive been a Lakeview educator for the past 8 years (6 at
Ardmore.) I have been fortunate to teach: 1st, 2 nd, 3rd, and now FABULOUS fourth grade! I feel
privileged to be part of the Lakeview Team, St. Clair Shores community, and Ardmore Elementary.
What a year! Two dedicated teaching professionals, delivering best practices to your child and who
better to experience that with than my friend, Mrs. Landino. My goal is to be instill in your child a
true love of reading and writing! These goals will be met through a Balanced Literacy Model which
include: Read-Alouds, Shared and Independent Reading, Close and Critical Reading, and Guided
Reading. We will continue to develop - narrative, opinion, and persuasive styles of writing through 4
square and graphic organizers.
We are an active family of 6 in Chesterfield Twp. My husband Gordie and I have 4 children. Gavin is
a 16 year old - 11th grader; Gracie a 13 yr. old - 8th grader; Gillian an 11 yr. old -6th grader; and Gabby
is an 8 yr. old- 4th grader. I love most forms of physical activity such as: yoga, hiking, cycling,
running, and boxing. In addition, I love spending time with my family and traveling to new and
familiar places; cooking and baking are joys; and Im an avid reader and writer.

What a truly unique and adventurous year it will be for us in the Hughdino classroom! Welcome
aboard.
Warmly,
Mrs. Landino & Mrs. McHugh
