Ulises Busquet

Description 1
The name of the artist is Johanna Morano. Their artwork is called Summer
Colors and made though the inspiration from Meret Oppenheim. The artwork is
made of a t-shirt with vivid colored popsicle sticks covering the area around
colorful flowers in the center. I can observe that the artist seemed to also use their
imagination, regular objects, coloring utensils, and glue to produce their piece. The
artwork is a surreal sculpture with flowers.

Description 2
The artwork has a focal point of summer due to the t-shirt, popsicle sticks, and
flowers representing objects commonly thought of when thinking about summer.
The balance of the artwork is mainly in the center of the artwork. The mood
produced is a tired yet refreshed feeling. I see unusual proportion because it is
mainly has an uneven amount of sticks and uneven size of flowers. The popsicle
sticks in rows is the only pattern because they they are in symmetrical position in
rows and columns. I do not see any rhythm as it is random colors, though. The
color unifies the design and it and the flowers bring variety because they bring
choice and show similarity with each other.

Description 3
The flowers may symbolize summer as they vividly blossom. The popsicle sticks
represent refreshing cold ice cream in the hot sun. I feel the artist wanted to give
the viewer a sense of summer, as it is mainly associated with the season. This
work reminds me of images of summer flowers, eating cold ice cream, and the
need to wear less clothing in summer. This also reminds me of rare events like
vacations.

Description 4
I believe this artwork is a success. The criteria of vivid colors and symbolism can
help other viewers judge it well. The work seems unique as it has never occurred
to me to do add flowers and popsicle sticks. However, I feel the artist could have
added more symbolism or cover most of the white part of the shirt, but it was still
good.
