Q.

2 How does your media product represent particular

social groups?

In my film I have represented two social groups. They are a victim and a
small criminal gang. I have represented the criminals by dressing them in
certain way. Cameron O’Donnell who is one of the criminals who is chasing
the victim is wearing a bob hat. This makes him seem like a eastern
European criminal. Also the character who I play the loan shark or the leader
of the criminal gang acts like a leader of a criminal gang. One way in which
he does this is at the start of the film. When he finds out that a small of his
money has gone missing he stands and slams the envelope down on the
table. This shows that he has a very short temper and reacts violently to
things. Also for this role we have chosen a male character .This is because
you generally stereotype male characters with being the villain type of
characters. Another way which we had made the villain seem like a
stereotypical viilain is by him sending his two henchmen to go and chase
after the man who has stolen money from him. Then when the two
henchmen catch the villain the boss then goes and hits him round the head
with a cricket bat. This shows he is a stereotypical boss because he does not
do any of the dirty work but just does the bit at the end.

Are victim in the scene which is Patrick Mc’ Adam is dressed in a usual way
with a pair of joggers on and a jacket on. We have deliberately dressed him
this way to show that he is just a normal guy. Also for this role we have
chosen a male character.

In my film I have used three main settings. They are the loan sharks office,
the back alley and the victim’s bedroom. The loans sharks’ office is exactly
of what you would have expected it to be, it is quite a small office but it has
a big desk and a big head chair for where the boss would sit. The back alley
was also perfect for a chase scene. Firstly because it was the perfect
stereotype for a foot chase scene. And secondly because they was no traffic
or pedestrians using it. And the victim’s bedroom was also a perfect setting.
This is because it looked again like an ordinary bedroom which again relates
to the fact that he is an ordinary guy. Also in the scene in the bedroom we
placed an empty bottle of Magners on his bed side to make it seem like he
had been drinking his sorrows away.
