Wh- words
You use Wh- words when you want to know extra or specific information about something or someone.
They are used before the auxiliary verb.

4. How: Asks about manner, way, form.

5. Why: Asks about reasons.


(Why is used for asking questions and
Because is used for answering them)

Why do you study English?


Because it is important.

6. Which: Asks about choice, alternative or


options.

Which movies do you prefer, action or comedy


movies?
I prefer comedy movies.

7. Who: Asks about people. It can be used in


two different forms.

Who does Walter work with?


He works with Jessie.

*FIRST CASE: when we know the person that


performs the action, but we do not know the
person that accompanies him or her.

Who do you live with?


I live with my family.

SECOND CASE: When we do not know the


person that performs the action. In this case we
use the following formula:
Who + Verb -s + Complement + ?

Who makes coffee here?


My mother makes coffee./ My mother does.
Who has our red eraser?
.I have it./ I do.

8. Whose: Asks about belongings.


Note: It usually works with verb to be.

Whose marker is this?


Its the teachers marker.
It belongs to the teacher.
