Burke: Understanding Academic Success
The four Cs are great and Id like to utilize them, but I wonder what are
some options for implementing them into the classroom. How will the
students best relate to them in order to find its inspiration and/or
motivation?
Burke cites Doing School and tries to combat the problems that are
failing to engage students; he believes that teaching students certain
skill can help their successhe even give examples of letters written
from motivated and matured students. I like the example he uses on
page 21 about his sons baseball improvement by someone who took
the time to analyze and figure out the problem before trying to solve it.
My question is what is the best way to pinpoint a childs
learn/motivation problem and work with each student one-on-one? Or
do you just act towards the group and hope for the best?
Burke: What We Teach
Commentary: loved the cultural Ellis Island
Twenty-first century readers and writers need to Build relationships
with others to pose and solve problems collaboratively and crossculturally I found this point to be very important, yet I never really
see it come into play in my normal English class, and like never in my
high school classrooms. Collaboration is always wanted but never
actually encouraged. Why is this? Is this only in my personal
experience? How would collaboration play into creating producers and
consumers of text (pg 16.)

Me: storyteller or anthropologist.
