Momentum is the Inertia in Motion

The units given for momentum is kg*m/sec
Equation- P = M*V
Momentum = Mass *
Velocity
Example: Your brother mass is 35.6kg and he has a
1.3kg skateboard. What is the combined momentum of
your brother and his skateboard if they are moving at
9.50m/s?

Momentum (part
one)
Answer-350.55 kg*m/s

Momentum= is conserved unless

theres an outside, unbalanced force.
For example, pushing the gas petal
while your car hits another car, an
outside, unbalanced force.
Equation- P (before) = P (after)

The equation you would use for
this is:
M*V(bullet and gun) = M*V(bullet) +
M*V(gun)

Momentum (part
two)

Elastic Collision= a collision where

objects hit WITHOUT LOSE OF ENERGY
(momentum and energy are
conserved (P and KE) and no bid heat
produced)

Elastic
Collision

Inelastic Collision = a collision

where objects hit and stick together
(momentum (P) is conserved but NOT
energy (KE) (heat is produced))

Inelastic
Collision

Conservation of Momentum = for

all collision problems you would use

P(final) = P(initial)

OR ( Momentum final = Momentum initial )

Expanded Version:
(M(1)V(1) + M(2)V(2))final = (M(1)V(1) +
M(2)V(2))initial
