Job Skills Checklist

I currently work as an Assistant Coordinator for the Compton Union Building and within my job I am
constantly taking on the skills within this checklist, while managing a certain area of staff.
Take personal responsibility: Making sure I am meeting their needs while also making sure they are
meeting our needs within the job.
Set work committee goals: So that everyone is on the same page and understands what is expected of
them.
Providing discipline: If necessary when people refuse to meet those requirements. I am constantly
interacting with people.
Provide customer with service: My job focuses on meeting the needs of our patrons and helping them in
whatever way they need to.
Taking independent action: Making sure my staff is on top of everything and when no one is able to step
up because of personal reasons.
Support others: I have to support others during their time of need because not only is a part of my job to
but it is just common sense to give support to those who need it.
Training people: Within my job because there is always something new to learn and as first responders
in my job, we have to always be on our toes when it comes to emergency response.
Motivating Others: I am constantly encouraging people to keep going and have a positive attitude while
also encouraging myself.
Managing People: The prime focus of my job is to manage people and make sure my staff is on top of
everything.
Collaborating ideas: I work with a partner and we are constantly putting our heads together to figure out
things.
Delegating responsibility: If we are unable to get shifts covered or if we need something done I am
responsible for delegating those responsibilities to complete the task.
Operating equipment: Within my position I have to work with different types of equipment that includes
me setting up different structures.
Enduring long hours: Within my position I constantly have to adjust to different shifts if people are
unable to pick them up and I spend long hours at my job working on paperwork.

I am a senior majoring in Marketing and minoring in Communications. I have taken
many marketing classes and have been the Public Relations for two organizations, the Black
Student Union and African Friendship Association. During my senior year of high school I
worked as an intern for the marketing department of K&L Gates LLP. I believe I am a great
candidate for this position, having the required skills and qualifications as per your needs.
Through my experience as an Assistant Coordinator, a Day Camp Counselor, and the
positions I have held in different organizations, I have learned many skills that will work to my
advantage in this position. Though these positions, I have learned how to work in high pressure
environments, team work environments, organization skills, networking skills and
communication skills that allow me to work with a variety of people. Through my position as an
Assistant Coordinator, I have also learned the role of being a supervisor and all that goes into
managing staff, which includes training people, taking individual action, supporting other and
being a leader.
With all of the experience and skills that I have gained, I know that I am more than
qualified for this position. I know that I have a lot to bring to the company but I am also a quick
learner who will gain even more experience and skills within this position.
