Game Manager Duties
General Duties
The game manager will be responsible for complete supervision of the athletic event
assigned beginning with facility set-up for the event and ending with the exit of the teams
and officials from the event site. Game managers are to be at the facility at least one hour
before the scheduled start of the first contest. The game manager reports to the Athletic
Director and/or principal.
Before the game
1. Be familiar with the Crisis Management Plan for the facility that you are working.
2. Inspect the facility including the bathrooms and locker rooms. If they need cleaned contact the
custodial staff.
3. Set the game clock to ensure that the game begins at the assigned time.
4. Make sure ticket sales personnel are in place at opening, have all necessary items, and are
signed in.
5. Check that all entrances are secured and no other way into the facility is available.
6. Meet or have gate worker/custodian meet the other team to show them to their dressing room.
7. Have officials sign the pay sheet and direct to the appropriate locker room.
8. Make sure National Anthem is ready for beginning of varsity contest.
9. Put the Pregame script on the scorers table prior to beginning of the contest.
During the game
1. Provide visibility and supervision of the event
2. At end of first quarter- have water placed in officials room
3. At end of first half- collect the gate money and allow workers to leave
a. If you need to keep workers make a note so the sheet can be adjusted
4. During halftime- only authorized school activities should be on the floor (Arrowettes/Threepoint shot)
5. After halftime- put the stereo system away (closet under scoreboard)
6. Put the ball basket in the closet or lock the ball basket
After the game
1. As the game ends, ensure that the game ball is removed from the floor
2. Make sure the officials leave the court in a safe manner
3. Remove the microphone from the scorers table and put in the music box cabinet
4. Make sure that both teams leave the court in a safe manner
5. Make sure that the custodial staff is in the gymnasium to begin clean up
6. Account for the gate box by taking to main office or returning it the next school day
7. Make note of any unusual events that occurred before, during, or after the game
