Assignment 2: Advertising
and Marketing

The advert that I am going to analyse

are for the soft drink Coke by CocaCola.
There are approximately 900
factories worldwide.
Coca-Cola was founded in March 27,
1944 and has since become one of
the most popular soft drinks world
wide and has released many subdrinks like
(for
example)
coke
life.
First Impression
I think that the advert is effective and
uses colours well to influence opinion.

The TV ad
The Coke adverts a almost always clever
because they use colour to influence people I
have
highlighted
some
examples
of this on
the next
slide

Things highlighted in red are red or black, representing the coke logo and
the colour of the drink. As you can see there is an abundance of items like
this.

The blue is possibly to highlight cokes competitor Pepsi. I suggest this

because the older brother starts out as the antagonist of the advert.
This comes further into play later.

This is another example of the contrast between black/red and other

colours, the advert keeps this theme for most shots.

This kind of mid shot is common in adverts, all of the places that logos
could be, there are logos. The coke is central in the shot.
Previous to this screen-cap the older brother scuffed the younger ones
shoes, the older brother is still wearing blue as he is still being
antagonised. Take note also about how the shots have been lit so far.

In this shot the new antagonists are wearing blue (this is where the
comment I made earlier makes more sense ) this again- represents Pepsi
This shot is lit better than the others, and this will make sense in the next
shot

This shot is lit brighter but has a

slight tinge when compared to the
shot below . The older brother is now
wearing red to represent coke as he
is now a protagonist

This shot is light

brightly and
clearly again
representing that
coke is superior as
the boys in blue
run away.

The boys are scared at the sight of

the older brother, this is important as
they represent Pepsi.

The coke looks moist, this is to make the product look refreshing and
the logo faces the camera, the shot is lit clearly and the background is
blurred to show that all that matters is the coke.
