BAND SAW
A stationary machine tool used for cutting wood or metal into
non-linear shapes. Its blade is one continuous circle stretched
over two pulleys.
DRILL PRESS
A stationary machine tool used for drilling holes in various
materials.
BELT SANDER
A stationary power sander that uses a 1" continuous
abrasive belt for sanding wood or metal.
OSCILLATING SPINDLE
SANDER
A power sander that uses various diameter cylinders
covered with a sanding sleeve. The cylinder turns and moves
up and down to sand wood.
DISC SANDER
A power sander with a 12" sanding disc for sanding wood or
metal.
SCROLL SAW
A stationary fine-toothed power saw with a narrow blade
used for cutting small designs in wood.
TABLE SAW
A stationary saw with a large circular blade protruding
through the face of the table. A rip fence can be adjusted to
width to help guide the board as it is pushed through the
blade. This saw is primarily used for ripping lumber.
JOINTER
A stationary power tool used to true the edges of boards,
making them straight.
ROUTER/SHAPER
A stationary power tool with a shaped cutter blade for
forming the edge on wood boards.
THICKNESS PLANER
A stationary tool used to make the faces of a board flat and
parallel. Wood is fed between the roller/ knife and the table.
