Vocabulary:

Teacher will introduce vocabulary words and have


students Turn and Talk to generate a definition.
Release, brief, calculate, elevation, accelerate.
Grammar:
Teacher will present a few sentences on the board. Ally
goes to the park. Ally slides down the slide. Ally thinks the sky is beautiful.
Ally watches the clouds go by.
Teacher will ask the students what they can change
about this paragraph. Guide to the answer of changing Ally to she.
Teacher will then ask if we change it to she, what is she
considered now?
Teacher will introduce the term pronoun as a word that
takes place of a noun

observe the weather throughout the day.

Teacher will have students volunteer to read page 378.
Using context clues, they will generate a definition for each of their
vocabulary words.
Grammar: Pronouns
Teacher will display sentences on the board from the
Daily Grammar. Students will work through finding pronouns. Teacher will
assign homework from Grammar Workbook.
Comprehension Strategy: Authors Purpose
Students and teacher will read Walking in Space on
page 380. Teacher will ask students why the author repeated the phrase

Students will review vocabulary from Theme 11. Teacher
will display defintions and words on the board. Students will have to match
the vocabulary to the defintion.
Grammar
Students will edit sentences to replace the noun with a
pronoun, and change the word to an abbreviation.
Comprehension Strategy: Visuals and Authors Purpose
Students will read and generate questions about the
illustrations. They will also Turn and Talk to discuss the authors purpose in
the text.
