Final Grant Report

When Shasta Regional Community Foundation awards a grant, we enter into a partnership with
grantees to provide new insights into effective ways to strengthen our communities. The
following questions are intended to help you capture your experience, inform donors about your
program, and account for funds granted. Please be candid, reflective, and succinct as possible.
We are equally interested in hearing about your challenges and difficulties as your successes.

Grant # 20150121
Report date: 11/13/2015
Grant purpose: Purchase fitness station for community park
Grant report prepared by: Barbara Short and Casey Geyer
Phone #: (530) 629-2543
E-mail address: cgeyer@tcoek12.org
1. Please provide a brief summary of the funded project and describe current status.
The project involved the installation of a Fitness Track, repair existing structure, and
the purchase and install fitness stations. The existing structures identified for repairs,
baseball dugouts, have been repaired and painted.
We have completed the planning phase of the Fitness Track. The Fitness Track has
been marked, and the area for the fitness stations has been selected. We are
commencing to the demolition phase of the project. Structures, outdoor equipment
and play areas have been identified for removal and/or relocation. Demolition has
been scheduled and the construction of the track will begin immediately after
demolition and surface preparation is completed.

2. Did you achieve the objectives you outlined in your proposal or grant request? If
so, what difference has the project made for your organization, those served by the
project or the community? If not, please explain.
Revised 1.15.14 ah

3. Were there any organizational changes, including changes in key leadership,

during the grant period? If so, please describe.
There was a change in Burnt Ranch School District Administration from the 2014-15 to
2015-16 school year. Barbara Short, who applied for the grant on behalf of BRS, is no
longer the schools Superintendent/Principal. Kathleen Graham took over the position
in July of 2015. Kathleen Graham and Casey Geyer are now administering the grant
and supervising project completion.
4. Were there any unexpected outcomes, positive or negative?
One positive unexpected outcome of this project was the much-needed repair of the
schools automatic field irrigation system. By reallocating previously unused field
acreage for the Fitness Track we were able to decrease watering demands and
increase the efficiency of our fields irrigation system.
5. What have you learned in the course of this project? What advice would you give to
another organization considering a similar project?
By carefully coordination of all funding sources and maintaining flexibility in
sequencing construction elements we were able to maximize the scope of the project,
which included the significant construction and implementation of the Fitness Track
and fitness stations.

6. Please provide up to 2 quotes (from board members, participants, etc.) that we

may use in education & marketing materials to demonstrate the results of this grant.
(optional)

7. Is there anything else you would like us to know?

We cant thank you enough for providing the keystone funding for a major school
improvement project which will not only include the fitness stations but the Fitness
Track and improved athletic facilities (ie: baseball dugouts). The community support
for this project has been most gratifying in that local business and community
volunteers have contributed to the project completion. We are certain that this
project will further enhance our instructional programs for the benefit of our students
and the Burnt Ranch community.
