This training programme was sponsored by Indian Embassy ,Kabul and was attended by
16 young officers from Ministry of Mines ,Government of Afghanistan.
Porgramme Director Dr. Arvind Chaturvedi said the objective of the programme was to
prepare the young officers to take up bigger responsibilities in the ministry and impart
knowledge of basic managerial skills.
Besides the general management subjects- finance, HRM, marketing , production &
operations, including project management and supply-chain management , the training
programme covered modern technological issues as well. Dr Chaturvedi said the
programme covered complete package of managerial topics and included sessions on
environmental issues , Social and economic issues, corporate social responsibility and
ethics in government .
The training was imparted by IMI faculty and other invited experts through 47 sessions
spread over two weeks . To break the monotony of the class for a very long period, the
participants were also taken, over weekend , to Agra, the city of Taj Mahal.
The programme was inaugurated by IMI Dean (academics) Prof. Himadri Das on May
29. The valedictory address was given by Mr. M.Afzali ,Minister Counselor, Embassy of
Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on June 12, 2010. The valedictory function to distribute
the certificates of participation was presided over by the IMI Director Dr.PK Bhaumik.
The Chief Guest Mr. Afzali hoped that Indian help and cooperation to re-build and
reform Afghanistan will continue not only in management trainings but other areas as
well.
