“YAAL WORLD (Family Entertainment Park & Hotel)” Project in the Northern Province

The Northern part of Sri Lanka is gifted by nature with many historical places and places of
tourist interest. During the past 3 decades of the civil war, most of these places were either
destroyed or damaged and people of the Northern Province were not allowed the chance to enjoy
the abundant free gift of nature that these sites provided.

Under the guidance of His Excellency President Mahindha Rajapakse terrorism was eradicated
and the Northern Peninsula came under Government control. During the past one year lots of
development activities have taken place in the Northern Province under the “Uthuru Wasantha
Programme” initiated by the Government. Hon. Governor, Northern Province GA Chandrasiri
has given his fullest support towards all the Development activities which is taking place in the
Northern Province. With his dedication and honest work he has inspired and activated the
development of the Northern Province. This uniqueness in him has catalyzed all the Northern
Provincial Council Staff to serve the people justly and honestly.
With the ravages of war now over, people have new hopes about their future and sustainable
socio-economic Development in Northern Province. Under the able guidance of his Excellency
the President almost all the Districts in the Northern Province are being developed. Investments
flow in to these Districts. Infrastructure requirements such as roads, electricity, water supply,
communication facilities are being extended.

People from the south and other province too visit the Jaffna peninsula. To attract tourist to
Jaffna under the Development Programme initiated by Hon. Governor, Northern Province GA
Chandrasiri and Mrs. Y.Patkunarajah, Mayor of Jaffna Municipal Council, action has been taken
to grant permission to establish the “YAAL WORLD (Family Entertainment Park & Hotel)”
Project at Pullukulam land and tank.

The project is expected to be implemented in four stages and the investment in this regard is
proposed to be around Rs. 50 million. It is bound to generate 25 direct employment and 15 others
indirect employment opportunities.

This leisure park envisages an amusement park that features water play areas such as water
slides, splash pads, spray grounds (Water playgrounds), and other recreational bathing,
swimming and bare footing environment activities. It would also be equipped with some indoor
activities such as pool tables, computer games, Artificial ice rinks and such environments,
Bumper cars, Bouncers, Train Rides, Food courts and will also have 20 rooms for
Accommodation.

These new initiatives that are to take place in the Northern Province will bring happiness to the
lives of the people and provide lots of entertainment.
