Down by the Pond

Details
Players: 1-2 children
Equipment: 1 marker (anything can be used as a marker)

Introduction and story


This game will help your child practice their counting, as well as strengthen their legs.
Story - Frog has finally arrived at a new pond and is about to settle in, but there is already another
resident here, Spider. Spider is happy though, he’s been lonely by himself at the pond. Frog and Spider
become friends that day, having fun jumping and scuttling around the pond.

Instructions

Step 1: Set up the marker as a starting point.

Step 2: Start at the marker. Your child does 15 frog jumps away from the marker.

 To do a frog jump: start standing with your feet together, knees bent.
 Leap forward with your legs together, landing with your feet together, knees bent.

Step 3: Spider walk back to the starting marker.


 To spider walk: Stand with your legs spread, and bend your knees
so that your body is low to the ground.
 Reach the palms of your hands to the floor, so that you are on all
fours.
 Move your right leg with your left hand forward, and then move
your left hand and right leg forward. Continue to move forward
like this until you reach your destination.

Step 4: Your child does 14 frog jumps away from the marker.

Step 5: Repeat steps 2-4 decreasing the number of frog jumps by one each time.
