Pizza
Perfect pizza base for make-your-own nights
in, with family or school friends.

Ingredients
2 cups (300g) plain flour
1 tsp brown sugar
1 (7g) sachet of yeast
Pinch of salt
1 tsp olive oil
180ml warm water

To make
Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
Place all the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix, then add the oil and warm water. Either in a mixer
with a dough attachment, or using your hands on a clean lightly floured bench, work the dough until
smooth and pliable (around 10 minutes by hand). If a little dry add some more water, or if too moist add
more flour.
Return to the bowl, cover with cling wrap and place in a warm spot. Allow to rise to double in size (takes
around 45 minutes).
Remove the dough from the bowl, place on a floured bench, knead the dough for 1 minute to remove the
air bubbles, cut into 2 - 3 balls depending on crust thickness preference and size of pizza. Using a rolling
pin with flour, roll into a pizza shape base. Place on a greased baking tray or pizza stone.

Takeaway turnarounds
When you’re tired and hungry, take away often seems like the best solution to feed a hungry family.
Choose wisely like a Thai stir-fry, Japanese sushi or BBQ chicken with a huge salad and takeaways can
fit into a healthy diet. However if takeaway equals fast food every time, you may find that your family is
clocking up unwanted kilojoules, saturated fat and salt in your quickest meal of the week. When you
take time to plan a weekly menu and shop ahead, you’re less likely to fall into the trap of dialing out or
driving through. Why not create a regular ‘make your own pizza’ night? Once you get up to speed with
this recipe, everyone in the family will soon want to help.
