Players: 1-4 children, 1 parent
Equipment: 10 tennis balls, 2 baskets/containers, 1 towel (this is enough equipment for 1 child), 1
stopwatch/timer
Instructions
Step 1: Place all 10 tennis balls in one basket at your chosen starting point. Place the towel next to the
basket, with enough space for your child to jump over it. Place the second basket 20 metres away from
the starting point.
Step 2: Your child begins at the basket filled with balls. Start the
timer. Child picks up a ball and runs to the second basket to drop off
the ball.
Step 4: Your child jumps sideways, left to right, over the towel 4
times*.
Step 5: Your child repeats steps 2-4 until all the balls are in the
second basket. Child must complete this task in 6 minutes to ‘beat the
clock’.

*To keep the exercise entertaining for your child, you can change the movement over the towel each time
they do the exercise.
Alternative movements include:
Jumps with two legs
Jumps with one leg (similar to hopping)
Star jumps/jumping jacks
Squat jumps
To do a squat jump, you child stands with feet hip width apart and bends knees.
Your child then jumps from this position, so that knees are extended and folded beneath
the child’s body before extending again and landing.
