Volcanoes,
Volcanoes can be big or small, wide or thin, and even on land or in water. When you think
of volcanoes what is the first word that comes to mind? For me that word is lava. Now we have
to learn some words:

1. Volcano – A vent in the earths crust through witch lava, steam, and ashes flow through
continuously or at irregular intervals.
2. Lava - The molten fluid rock that comes from a volcano .
3. Magma- Molten rock beneath earths surface
4. Crater- A cup shaped depression on the earth
5. Volcanic Ash- Finely pulverized lava thrown out by a volcano in eruption.

Some one asked me “ Muhammad why does a volcano explode? And what about all the other questions
people have about volcanoes.”

So these are some questions and answers:

1. Q. Why does a volcano explode?

A. The magma that flows from a chamber may harden to form a "plug" or a dome. This kind of
structure may enlarge or be pushed upward when the magma cannot freely flow out. The pressure on
these rocks is one factor that is monitored by vulcanologists when forecasting the possibility of another
eruption from an existing volcano

2. Q. How do you measure the temperature of lava?

A. You use an instrument called a thermocouple.
3. Q. Who discovered volcanoes?
A. No one knows who discovered volcanoes.
4. Q. What is lava made of ?
A. Hot melted rock
5. Q. When was the volcano discovered?
A. 79 Ad
