Activity session subject : Locations: Town and Country Vocabulary: In the sea, I can see.. Crab, squid, dolphin, whale, shark, fish, turtle, shrimp, shell, jellyfish, octopus. At the beach, I can see. Sand, beach ball, sand castle, boat, sun, lighthouse. Grammar I am going fishing/surfing. I am going to the beach. Activities / songs / games: Colouring pictures of sea animals and making a display on the wall associating names with pictures. Learning vowel sounds worksheets with sea animal names with vowels missing, students must complete. Octopus tag game. Under the sea song from Disneys Little Mermaid. Seaside activities worksheet, seaside counting worksheet. Undersea adventure game blindfolded students are directed by friends. Fly swat game for sea creatures using display. Colouring for seaside activities to possibly ad to display maybe competition for the best work which then goes up.

Phonics Practice using the short o sound in three letter words combining it with beginning and end consonants. Practice using spelling games. Introduce the concept of words that rhyme two words with the same short vowel sound and consonant ending. Helps students to recognize word groups. Review of short a, i, and o. Maths Review counting numbers one to twenty forwards and backwards. Forming written numerals eleven to twenty. Play the human addition game, the corners game and others to develop and understanding of simple addition and subtraction. Notes / parent follow up: If you have time, take your child to a local beach so that they can identify in real life some of the things they have learned in class.
