Purpose of the Study

Understanding of science concept takes a long time for students especially in primary stage. Science teachers should choose activity which children can be active and they should give enough time in science lessons for children. Teachers also should start from childrens prior experience from their daily life. Drama method, extremely beneficial in terms of contemporary method in education. Drama as a method, still is not used many field in education, especially in environment subjects in science lesson.

Method: In the study, pretest-posttest with matched control group model will
be used. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods will be used in this research. Data will be gathered by Environment Subject Achievment Test (ESAT) will be developed by the researcher and Attitudes Towards Science Scale (ATS). Before and after the learning process ESAT and ATS will be employed to the students in both groups as pre and post questionnaire. Additionally, structured interviews will be conducted with 15 students from only the experimental group. A pretest will be applied on groups for the purpose of determining the preexperiment similarity degrees. The researcher will be prepared and applied drama plans on the test group. The control group where the conventional method will be applied, course plans will be prepared and implemented by the class-teacher. Following this application, ESAT will be applied as posttest, as retention-test 5 weeks after the implementation of posttest, at the same day on two groups. Data from the research will be analyzed using t-test.
