De la Seora:
What a whirlwind these last two weeks! We missed days for the hurricane and then had a short week for conferences. We spent those two partial weeks doing the first unit in our Language Arts curriculum and also finishing up Unit 3 in Math. Some other highlights were celebrating the festival of the giant kites and making sweet breads for Day of the Dead. It was such a pleasure to meet with you all for the conferences and to talk about your child. I am so very encouraged by their progress and their understanding.

Bible: We finished our discussion of the

Circle of Grace. We also completed our technology safety unit to wrap up our month of safety. We continue with devotions and Bible stories each morning.

REMINDERS: * Our class could use some more snacks. * Please make sure your child has a warm coat, gloves, hat, etc. for going to recess in the morning. * Remember to check the wiki for pronunciation of new spelling words.

Spelling words come from the letter and syllable combinations we are studying for the week as well as sight words. This coming week will be t and d combinations. When children learn to read Spanish they focus on syllable chunks rather than separate letters. ta (tah) da (dah) te (tay) de (day) ti (tee) di (dee) to (toe) do (doh) tu (too) du (do)

You can now find on my wiki a recording of me pronouncing the words to help your child practice spelling each one.

Spelling Words: dame (dah - may) VERB: give me todo (toe - thoh) ADJ: all toma (toe - mah) VERB: [he/she/it] takes dice (dee - say) VERB: [he/she/it] says doy (doi) VERB: [I] give Sight Words: gusta (goo - stah) VERB: like tambin (tahm - bee - en) ADV: also salir (sah - leer) VERB: to go out encima (en - see - mah) PREP: over, on top of dijo (dee - hoh) VERB: [he/she/it] said
