Answer any FIVE questions All questions carry equal marks **** (a) List out the different accessories of plane table surveying. Also explain the purpose for which they are used. (b) State Three point problem in plane table surveying and describe how it is solved by Bessnels method.

(a) Explain the procedure of chaining. How will you record the measurements of chain survey? Enumerate the points to be kept in view while booking the field notes. (b) A survey line BAC crosses a river, A and C being on the near and opposite banks respectively. A perpendicular AD 40 m long is set out at A. If the bearings of AD and DC are 380 451 and 2780 451 respectively and the chain age at A is 862m. find the chain age at C

With the help of neat sketches explain the direct method of locating contours. A rectangular plot ABCD forms the plan of a excavated for road work. E is point of intersection of diagonals. Calculate the volume of excavation from the following data if length AB=50m and BC =80m Point Original level Final level A 45.2 38.6 B 49.8 39.8 C 51.2 42.6 D 47.2 40.8 E 52.0 42.5

In order to ascertain the elevation of the top (Q) of the signal on a hill, observations were made from tow instrument stations P and R at a horizontal distance 1000 meters apart, the stations P and R being in line with Q. The angle of elevation of Q at P and R were 28042 and 1806 respectively .The staff readings up on the bench mark of elevation 287.28 were respectively 2.870 and 3.750 when the instrument was at P and at R being horizontal. Determine the elevation of the foot of the signal if the height of the signal above its base is 3meters. (a) What is tachometry? Describe its uses. (b) To determine the distance between two points P and Q, and the R.L. of Q, the following observations were made: Height of tachometer at P=1.480 m Vertical angle at P=+50200 Staff readings (With staff vertical) = 0.545,0.905,1.265 R.L.of P=150.000 m Contd. in page 2 Page 1 of 2

(a) Describe the method of setting out a simple circular curve by offset form chords produced. (b) Tabulate the necessary data for setting out the first five pegs of a circular curve with the following data. Angle of intersection of the straights =1450, change of point intersection =1580m. Radius of the curve = 400 m. The curve is to be set out by method of deflection angles with pegs at every 30m. Theodolite has a least count of 2000
