The boy in the striped pyjamas

Bruno, a 9 year old boy, lives with his parents, his sister Gretel and Maria, the maid, in a well-of home in Berlin. One day when Bruno comes home from school, he receives the news that he and his family are going to move. His father, commander of the Nazi troops, is the new director of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Bruno does not like his new house and he just want to meet other children to play with. Therefore, he is interested in people and children living on the other side of the fence; those who wear striped pyjamas: the thousands of Jews who live in the concentration camp. Bruno is bored in her new home and one day he decides to build a swing. Bruno falls when he was playing and a servant goes to help him. Bruno thought that the servant only peeled potatoes, but realize that he is actually a doctor who lives on the other side of the fence. Bruno's mother decides that they are going to say that she was the one who cleaned the boy's wounds. Brunos fathers decide to contract a teacher, Herr Liszt, in order to get theirs sons educated. Bruno thinks that Herr Liszt is the most boring teacher he has ever had and starts to play exploration like the explorers of his books. One day during an exploration he finds a boy, Shmuel, whos home is surrounded by a wire fence. The boy looks sad, he has a skinhead and is wearing a striped pyjamas. They talk about their different lives, Shmuel is a Jewish boy, and become friends. After that day Bruno goes to see Shmuel every day and brings some food to him. For Bruno this friendship is a little secret, and he doesnt tell to anybody not even to his own sister. After some days Bruno found Shmuel on the kitchen cleaning some glasses, then they start talking and Bruno offer him something to eat, but at that moment a soldier sees Shmuel eating and asks Bruno if he knows the boy to what Bruno says no. In the meantime Brunos mother found lice in his hair and decided to shave it, that make bruno happy because he looks like Shmuel. After been living in Auschwitz one year, the mother decides its not a place to raised the children and convinced the father in order that she and the children would return to Berlin while he stays at the camp doing his job. That decision makes Bruno sad because he has to say goodbye to his friend, but before that he want to do the last exploration. He decides that he will help Shmuel to find his father who has been lost for days. He enters the other way of the wire fence and dresses himself with the striped pyjamas. They were looking for some clue about the whereabouts of Shmuels father when they get lost in the middle of a group of Jewish people, they dont understand whats going on and think that they are taking shelter of the rain but the truth is that the end is coming Bruno never came back. His mother and sister stayed in the camp waiting for news of his whereabouts. Day after day the father become more demanding with the soldiers and doesnt stop thinking about Bruno.
