The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

By John Boyne

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is the story about a young boy growing up during
war time, about the friendship with one of the prisoner’s boy of course he didn’t
knew about that. He had a normal boy’s life, until his parents decided to leave
everything behind and move into the new house.
So one day, after Bruno came back from his school, it felt really strange, the
atmosphere changed. He ran in his room and house maid folding its clothes and
placing in a suitcase. That day the boy talked with Mother and the and the news
did not amuse him, they had to move and leave everything: the house, friends. On
the day of the arrival, Bruno looked out the window of his new bedroom and
witnessed from the strange sight. On the other side of a very tall wall he saw a
large number of boys and men of all ages wearing striped pajamas and caps.
Weeks passed, he got bored, so he decided to play with his new swing. That’s
when he met Shmuel. Excited to have a new friend, Bruno returned to the same
spot along the wall nearly every day. Bruno saw that his friend is really skinny and
looked sick. One day they got caught, after that Shmuel didn’t appear at the fence
for almost a week, and when he did, he had bruises everywhere. And after his
father gone missing, Bruno’s family wanted to go back. So boy wanted to say
goodbye to Shmuel and said that he’s his best friend. But he never saw him or
heard from him…
The book is really interesting, has riveting and touching plot. When I first started
reading the book I thought the story would not end so sadly. I read this book two
times, because the book is very engaging and I like this kind of books. The most
what I liked was that the author knew how to describe the place and you could
imagine it really fast and really quickly. While reading this book I felt like in the
movie.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas tells the story of Bruno’s and Shmuel, how they
became friends and how cruel life was at that time. It is a historical story that may
not be true, but it shows what human life was like at that time. And who likes books
of this genre I really suggest reading it.
