Annual Golf Tournament is Huge Success

Bob Dempsey | Church Growth and Development The MBA Golf Tournament took place Thursday afternoon May 9th at Arrowhead Country Club. A total of 104 golfers from eight MBA churches participated. The golf tournament began in 1994 and has provided an opportunity for fellowship and ministry support for the past 19 years. During this time, thousands of dollars have been raised for MBA ministries. This year is no exception. The tournament raised approximately $3800.00 which will be divided between Community of Hope and Samaritan Inn Ministries.

MBA churches compete for two trophies, low gross and net. The first place winners in each division are listed below. This years low gross winner was a team from Heritage comprised of Wayne Hooks, Billy Smith, Gene Moody, and Dalton Cox. The low net winner was from Eastern Hills. Team members were Jim Miller, Ken Morgan, Larry Brittian, and John Bricken. This tournament is made possible because of the hard work and leadership of the MBA Golf Committee. The following serve on the committee: Steve Dubose, First Baptist; Wayne Hooks, Heritage; Eddie Newton, Thorington Road; Jim Peters, Dalraida; Dean Finch, Taylor Road; and MBA staff members: Jennifer Gwin, Ken May, and Bob Dempsey.

Community of Hope Fundraiser

Community of Hope is collecting phone books to recycle as a fundraising project. Books can be dropped off at First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, or at Community of Hope, 2403 East South Blvd. Call Lou Ann Raughton (235-2634) or Jan Rowe (399-9993) to arrange for pick up.
