The main highlights of the festival are as follows: Day 1: 23 January 2012 (Monday) The Wild Meadows In the ever changing urban context, there is a need for our younger generation to understand the importance of one of the important section of society and also to be able to create a sense of responsibility towards the life support systems of urban areas; rag pickers. Thus, education has a vital role to play in drawing a sensitive outlook and constructive actions towards reaching out to them and learning the way they toil to keep the surroundings clean. Such type of education, besides generating awareness, sensitizes the youths and empowers them with requisite information regarding their alarming state. An interaction with them will eventually equip them with right type of approach to play the right type of role in the future. In TRASH, students are taken to a resource center which is run by Save the Children of India for street children and rag pickers. This activity would be a platform to provide a real interface with the lowest strata of society and experience their life their way.
