a) It is required to design a pair of spur gears with 200 full-depth involute teeth based on the 8M
Lewis equation. The velocity factor is be used to account for dynamic load. The pinion
Shaft is connected to a 10kw. 1440 rpm motor. The starting to the motor is 150% of the
rated torque. The speed reduction is 4:1 The pinion as well as gear is made of plain carbon
steel 40C8 (Sut=600N/mm2). The factor of safety can be taken as 1.5 design the

of design is 5. Determine the internal of cylinder and the thickness of the cylinder.
c) The cylindrical shell is subjected to an internal operating pressure of 1.2 MPa. The yield
strength of plate material is 200 N/mm2 and the corrosion allowance is 2mm. Spot
radiographed double welded butt joints are used to fabricate the shell whose internal
diameter is 2.5 meters. Torrispherical heads, each with a crown radius of 2 meters are used
as and closures. Determine the thickness of cylindrical shell and the torrispherical head.

c) A single-row-deep-groove ball bearing has a dynamic load carrying capacity of 40500 N


and operates on the following work cycle:
