NEWSLETTER NUMBER 18 / SPRING TERM 2015 / THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2015
YEAR 3 & 4 RESIDENTIAL
I am a day late with the newsletter this week, as I have spent the first three days of the week enjoying the company of the Year 3 and Year 4 children on their residential visit to Burwardsley. Whilst not very far away from school, it could have been a hundred miles away, as we were in the peace of the Cheshire countryside in the footholds of Beeston Castle. The children had a wonderful time, enjoying an expedition into a woodland where shelters were built and hammocks were set up. We had great fun looking at recent badger activity and looking for evidence of their nocturnal activities. The children explored the wonderful round house in the grounds of the Centre, learning about how it was constructed and how the Celts may have lived all those years ago. The Year 4 children had a go at making a wattle hurdle with freshly cut willow - the results were very impressive! The children thoroughly enjoyed the Celtic archeological dig which is on site and were fascinated with the number of artefacts that they found. I was very impressed with how the children helped each other out - some children really stretching their comfort zone by staying away from their family. I was very proud of the children and really enjoyed their company. It seemed very quiet waking up this morning and not having to feed 30 children! Thank you to the school staff who accompanied the children - I know they really enjoyed the experience too!
WEAR RED DAY
Thank you for your support last Friday - the children had great fun taking part in lots of fun activities. Please send any sponsor money into school via the school office as soon as possible. Some children have raised an amazing amount THANK YOU! We will give a final total at the beginning of the next half term. We have received another quote for a defibrillator and hope to get one at a very good price for the school. PTA VALENTINE DISCO Dont forget the disco tonight - if you havent yet purchased tickets, these can be bought as you arrive. The infant disco starts at 5.30pm until 6.30pm. The junior disco from 6.45pm until 7.45pm. Please bring your child(ren) to the school through the front door and collect through the junior doors. COMMUNICATIONS WITH SCHOOL If your child is off school because they are poorly or have an appointment, please contact the school by phone (rather than send an email) which should be before 9.30am. If you call early, please leave a voice mail which will be picked up straight away. Emails are not always checked until later in the day and we have had a number of instances where emails have gone straight to the junk folder. DINNER MONEY Please make sure your lunch/snack accounts are in credit by the end of the week. HAPPY HOLIDAYS We break up tomorrow for the half term holiday; we hope you have a lovely time with your family. We welcome the children back on Monday 23rd February 2015, as we start the second half of the school year.
