1. What type of reactions do people have in South Africa with the release of
Nelson Mandela from prison and his subsequent election as president.
The white people of South Africa had a negative reaction, and they werent pleased
when he became president especially, because they did not want change from Nelson
Mandela.
The black people of South Africa were very excited and joyful, and were cheering
because they wanted change from Nelson Mandela.
2. What are some of the issues Nelson Mandela faces as President of South
Africa
Having to convince the black people of South Africa to support the Springboks
because they originally hated them, and convincing the white members of the
parliament to stay.
3. Why does the rugby team cause such a divide between white and black
South Africans
The white people despised black people, but they still had to represent South
Africas black people as well in some way, and keep equality somehow, however, they
kept more white people on the team than black people.
4. As captain of the South African Rugby team, what are some of the issues
Francois Pienaar faces.
Francois struggles to make the team better and help them improve, and making
them listen to him as a leader. An example of this is when they dont listen to him as
he tells them to recite something that translates to god bless South Africa for a
match, and they go against it, and he says its only optional to stay afterwards.
