CONCLUSION
We were exposed to the industry to see how the theories we learn are put in to real practice, and to get
good experience in Civil engineering field. During my 6 months training period I was appointed to RR
Construction ( pvt) Ltd and they attached me to sub contract work of Colombo Port Expansion Project at
Colombo Port and also RR Construction is best construction establishment for trainees.
Although our training period is limited 6 months, I was able to get much knowledge about civil
engineering field. In my site there was much proper training schedule for the apprentices. So that was
very helpful to gain much knowledge .As well as I got opportunity to work with the exertive staff such
as ; Project Manager, Site Engineers, Assistant Engineers ,technical officer, supervisors, other trainees and
labours too. All of them were very helpful when I worked at the site .As I was new to the industry I got
experience to dealing with Main contractor, Consultant, Sub contactor and specially labour handling.
Different labours had different attitude towards the work. Therefore to identify their behavior and find a
method to do a job done by them, took sometime .This may have been avoided if we had some human
resource management seminars before the training started.
I also identified some difficulties in the site when involving for the tasks. They are lack of laboures and
resources (such as machineries and equipments) in the site, sudden breakdown in machineries and human
resources. These facts were caused for the delays occurred in the project .In this modernized world
construction was developed rapidly. So that as engineering students we should gain the skillness as well
as knowledge to over comes the competent. When I am looking back to training period I am really
satisfied about What Ive gained and I am really pleased with my training opportunity at RR Construction
(pvt) Ltd.
